When we are in the presence of physical or emotional danger, our nervous system becomes activated creating a fight/ flight/ freeze response to try to keep us safe.
However, once the danger has passed our brains can become “stuck” and have a difficult time processing through the experience which can create this constant state of fear. That is your trauma.
Therapy helps to process emotions related to the trauma so that you can let go of the past and look to the future.
